Stripe Off Campus drive for Software Engineer
Software Engineer, New Grad
Who we are
About Stripe
It’s a platform to build financial infrastructure for businesses. There are millions of companies who use Stripe to accept payments for millions of companies ranging from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups. Our goal is to grow the GDP of the internet and we have a gong mountain of work to do. That means you’ve got more of a chance than ever to put the global economy into the hands of everyone while doing the most important work of your lifetime.
About the team
How Stripe is a different kind of middle ground between working for a small startup and a multinational — is interesting. But we have systems and processes geared towards early career professionals. In an environment where rigor, discipline and reliability are highly prized, from our products, from our ways of working and from our colleagues. You will help build the best teams, you will help build extremely reliable systems based on the best code, and you will be placed into an operation of these systems with significant backup when things go sideways.
What you’ll do
At the same time, as a company, we really believe in end to end ownership of projects. We have one person on point for any given project. They don't have to do all the work but they have to be sure all the work gets done. As soon as possible, we launch betas and prototypes. This helps keep us on track of building what they really want.
Responsibilities
Collaborating directly and working on cross functional projects with other engineers.
Code Reviews and technical design involving feedback on a meaningful note
Make sure that your systems your team uses keep working, scale for what is needed by our users.
Learn project management as well as get technical leadership skills to build the skills to own a project from start to finish.
Who you are
If we are looking for someone of the minimum requirements we hope to be approachable as we consider the role. However, if you meet these requirements, do apply. Bonus, not requirement, are the preferred qualifications.
Minimum requirements
The equivalent of a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in computer science or a directly related field as of summer 2025
A certain amount of experience and familiarity with programming, however, may be gained through side projects or through classwork. Mostly in Java, Ruby, JavaScript, Scala, Go. If the fundamentals and general knowledge are present, we believe that new programming languages can be learned
Previous internships with experience or experience working collaboratively to solve multiple person coding projects (university or professional setting)
Independently learning about unfamiliar systems and being able to form conclusions of what they are, on my own and in collaboration with mentors and subject matter experts.
Preferred qualifications
Forward mentorship, one or more areas of specialized knowledge balanced with general skills and knowledge, e.g: knowing more frontend technologies and, at a high level, how a service responds to an HTTP request.
Experience in code review practices as well as an understanding on how to updat production systems in a safe way
Understanding how to browse and work within a big code base.
In-office expectations
In most of our locations, Stripes that are office assigned are expected to spend at least 50 percent of the time during any given month in their local office, or with users. This varies depending on role, team and location, but it’s expected. For instance, we have an 80% in office expectation for Stripes in our Bucharest, Romania site, and Stripes in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico and Bengaluru, India are 100% office.
Pay and benefits
That said, pay ranges aren't included in every country in Stripe’s job postings yet. We strongly wholeheartedly value pay transparency and are a global early mover on pay transparency.
